Eternal Solace is a personal website focused on blogging, CD catalouging and open source software resources. This site strongly promotes moving away from Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS towards an Open Source Linux alternative. The direction of these large transnational companies and their operating systems is stretching further than just developing and publishing poor software.
These large transnational organisations are attempting to control the direction of enteprise and personal computing. There is a clear and concise effort to reduce the use of client-side hardware and centralise processing as much as possible.
The continued use of Microsoft and Apple hardware and software is unethical consumption. Year on year both Microsoft and Apple increase their predatory practices through planned obsolescence and aggressive licensing that strips features only to resell them back to the customer at a premium.
As you would any other considerable and significant tool in your life, take the time to educate yourself about your computer and its capabilities. Computational self-determination is without a doubt the darkhorse issue of the 21st Century. A lack of self-determination of computing impacts the way we are able to communicate and share information.
